Amgen golf ambassador, Shane Lowry has won the 2026 Amgen Irish Open, following four days of world-class golf at Doonbeg, in County Clare.
Shane secured a record 11-stroke victory in front of home crowds. This year’s tournament brought together world-class golfing talent, fans, volunteers and the local community for a memorable week on Ireland’s iconic west coast. Shane's performance reflected not only exceptional sporting achievement, but the pride, resilience and connection to community that make him such a valued ambassador for Amgen and Irish sport.
As title sponsor, Amgen is proud to support an event that extended beyond the golf course, creating opportunities to engage young people and support local communities. The tournament also raised over €176,000 for Make-A-Wish Ireland, its official charity partner, through initiatives including Birdies for Wishes, on-site fundraising and Amgen’s Walk for Wishes challenge.
This year also saw the Amgen Biotech Experience come to the Amgen Irish Open for the first time, through Amgen’s partnership with University College Dublin. As part of Golf Ireland’s youth engagement initiative, local primary school students from Raheen and Kilkee were welcomed on site for an immersive tournament experience, combining a behind-the-scenes tour with a hands-on science session.
The interactive activity introduced students to biotechnology through accessible demonstrations, including micro-pipetting and an exploration of genetic variations, making science accessible in a unique tournament setting.
Committed to ensuring a lasting impact beyond tournament week, Amgen supported the launch of the new Doonbeg Heritage Trail Audio Guide, a community-led initiative that celebrates the village’s history, heritage and people. The free smartphone experience makes local stories more accessible to residents and visitors alike, while encouraging people to get active, explore the village on foot and spend time outdoors.
The week also included the DP World Tour Women in Golf event, bringing together women working across the game for conversations on careers, leadership and opportunity. The event featured perspectives from across golf and sport, including local Ladies European Tour player Áine Donegan, Sport Ireland CEO Dr Una May and Make-A-Wish Ireland CEO Susan O’Dwyer.
